Unimon V2: Battling for ETH on Unichain

Unimon, an onchain strategy game, made waves with its first rendition on Unichain.
Why? Because the title brought NFTs and DeFi together with Uniswap V4 hooks in unprecedented fashion. And now, the game is back with its second run, with its 1st-place finisher set to win up to 27.75 ETH.

Welcome back to Uniland
Unimon opened its new V2 mint yesterday, August 5th. There are up to 10,000 V2 Unimon NFTs up for grabs, with a soft cap of 2,500. If this minimum is reached, the game's battles will begin.
That said, each mint bundles four Energy points and one Unikey alongside a Level 1 Unimon. Keep in mind:
- Energy is used to evolve your Unimons (thus improving their attack and defense) or to revive Unimons that have fainted in battle (up to two times each).
- Unikeys are used to open gachas that drop NFT items: some permanently equipable, some consumable, a few redeemable for onchain rewards, i.e. ETH or UNI. You can equip one item per Unimon, with each offering unique buffs or debuffs.

You can study these equipables' boosts in the Unimon Wiki, and you can trade them on OpenSea. To unlock your own, head to the lootbox in the spawn room of Unimon's Adventure mode.
Here, you can use your Unikeys with "Insert" and "Open" transactions to unveil your loot. Then you can use your Unidex (accessible via your balances on the top right of unimon.app) to equip items as you see fit.
Warring for ETH
Once minting is completed, Unimon's War system begins.
This battle process will see Unimons entering daily eliminations until only one player remains.

The daily battle cycles (UTC) will follow this loop:
- 00:00 - 00:30 — Special Attack phase. Lower-level Unimons can punch up within an expanding level band (e.g. Day 1 = Levels 1-2, Day 2 = 1-4, etc).
- 00:31 - 22:59 — Free-for-All phase. Challenge anyone or be challenged. Skip a fight and your Unimon will be set to "Fainted" at day’s end.
- 23:00 - 23:59 — Admin phase. The cycle resets with a maintenance period.
Additionally, battles require two transactions. The first one starts the fight by requesting onchain randomness, while the second one finalizes the result by implementing that randomness.
As for the battle math itself, an attacking Unimon uses its Attack stats vs. a defender's Defense stats to set base win odds by ratio. Then, item modifiers are applied.
If any item pushes a stat below zero, that side auto-loses, so equip thoughtfully. You only get two revives per Unimon. Conversely, if your Unimon wins its battle, it'll be ready for the next cycle to begin.
The ultimate goal is to be among the final 64 Unimon standing or higher.
Half of all the V2 mint fees fuel the ETH prize pool, which scales with more mints. The top 64 contenders could share as much as 5.5 ETH, while the final champion could win up to 27.75 ETH. That's over $100,000 right now!

Also, it's important to note that once the War begins, you won't be able to mint or evolve Unimon. Make sure you have your monsters evolved how you want them before the battles begin accordingly.
The bottom line
This is a light, fun, and potentially lucrative game, and it's simple to play. Just bridge some ETH to Unichain (e.g. via Relay or Gas.zip), mint your Unimon(s), and then be mindful of your equipment and daily battles.
The odds of surviving to the end are slim, to be sure, but you miss 100% of the shots you don't take. And if you've been meaning to explore Unichain more, Unimon's certainly an easy starting point.
Personally, I just minted 5, so maybe I'll see you in the arena—best of luck if you join!
