USDT stablecoin issuer Tether has launched its Wallet Development Kit (WDK), an open-source toolkit that empowers humans and AI agents alike to build, deploy and use self-custodial wallets.

What's the Scoop?

  • For Humans and Machines: Tether's WDK isn’t just for humans; the company envisions that AI agents and autonomous systems will use the framework to manage their own resources and transact independently. “We imagine a world where humans, autonomous machines, and AI agents have the freedom to control their own finances,” said Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino in a press release.
  • Universal Infrastructure: WDK will support multi-chain wallets across popular networks including Bitcoin, Lightning Network, Ethereum, Arbitrum, Polygon, TON, and Solana. Built-in USDT0 support will assist to create a seamless cross-network bridging experience.
  • Total Developer Control: WDK offers customizable user-interface templates that simplify the most complex aspects of wallet development. Additionally, the toolkit will not charge fees or lock developers into specific ecosystems.
  • Upcoming Integrations: The soon-to-be-launched Rumble Wallet and Tether’s own upcoming self-custodial solution will be constructed entirely on WDK.
