SharpLink Gaming (Nasdaq: SBET) just announced plans to tokenize the its common stock directly on Ethereum, working through financial technology firm Superstate as its digital transfer agent.

What’s the Scoop?

  • Partnering with Superstate: SharpLink will use Superstate's Opening Bell platform to tokenize SBET shares in a fully compliant way, enabling registered investors to hold equity directly in self-custodied wallets.
  • Exploring Onchain Trading: The partnership is designed to lay the groundwork for tokenized shares to one day trade on AMMs and DeFi protocols in alignment with the SEC's Project Crypto initiative.
  • Praise from Leadership: Co-CEO Joseph Chalom labeled the move a statement about where global capital markets are headed, while Chairman Joseph Lubin described it as raising the floodgates by further onboarding TradFi to composable Ethereum DeFi.
  • Massive ETH Treasury: SharpLink Gaming now holds more than 838,000 ETH, having earned roughly 3,815 ETH from staking rewards since June 202 and ranking as the second largest corporate holder of Ethereum.
