Revolut Banking Fintech Launches 1:1 Stablecoin Conversions
Revolut – a British-based neobank that operates across 48 countries and services over 65M customers – now offers 1:1 conversion between USD and USDC/USDT stablecoins.
What's the Scoop?
- Free Conversions: According to Revolut Head of Crypto Leonid Bashlykov, the fintech banking platform has introduced 1:1 conversion between USD and USDC/USDT stablecoins. Users can now exchange up to €500k every 30 rolling days with no fees or spreads when converting.
- Multi-Chain Support: Revolut users will be able to exchange stablecoins for $1 every time, and deposit/withdraw their stablecoins using more than six supported chains, including Ethereum, Solana, Tron, and others.
- Crypto Expansion: This most recent crypto integration builds on Revolut’s growing digital asset ambitions. In July, Decrypt reported that Revolut was considering the launch of its own stablecoin in partnership with unnamed crypto-native issuer, and last November, Revolut launched a crypto exchange for European users.
Bankless Take:
Fintech banking services are increasingly turning to crypto (particularly dollar-denominated stablecoins) to expeditiously service money transfers at a low cost in a relatively stable currency. Revolut appears to recognize these benefits, and it would come as little surprise to see the platform proceed with plans to launch its own stablecoin.
