I remember when the Base mainnet first launched. I was hopeful the deployment would lead to a boon of fun apps, and that hope panned out over the past couple of years.

That said, I'm feeling the same way about the arrival of the MegaETH mainnet. The team is top notch, the tech is next-gen, and the chain's app ecosystem has tons of potential.

Of course, it's still the early days, and the MegaETH app scene has plenty of room to grow. And while others may be hunting for novel DeFi yields or undiscovered token gems on the L2, I'm most interested in games I can play + potentially earn from while I'm having fun.

If you'd like to start your journey on MegaETH in a chiller way like this, the good news is there are already a handful of games you can dive into here. Let's walk through some options you can check out!

First, beginner recs

  • If your EVM wallet hasn't natively integrated with MegaETH already, you can add the chain to your wallet using ChainList.
  • MegaETH uses ETH as its gas token, so bridge some in for transactions. I personally like services like Gas.zip, LI.FI, and Relay for this.
  • Some MegaETH games will ask you to deposit MegaUSD (USDM) to start playing. Swap in using a MegaETH DEX like Kumbaya or convert USDC to USDM via the Stargate bridge.
  • Lastly, some MegaETH games use NFTs for game assets. If you need to make any buys or sells to manage your inventory, you can find most new MegaETH collections on OpenSea.

Early MegaETH games to explore

  • Ave Forge — A mecha arena title where you customize robots for battle, upgrade your gear, and earn real crypto in player-vs-player duels.
  • Crypts AI — A text-based open world RPG that's fully onchain; microtransactions fund a prize pool, and the player who slays the final dragon boss wins everything.
  • MegaCube — A mysterious corporate sci-fi title where players work as "remote contractors" for unmanned dismantling work on a strange cube that has appeared over the earth. (Waitlist active)
  • Offshore Protocol — A simulator game centered around money laundering through fictional shell companies; earn $DIRTY tokens to acquire better assets, which in turn offer better USDM rewards. (Presale live)
  • Showdown — A vamped-up poker remix that features onchain betting and special action cards that players can deploy for unique powers.
  • Smasher — A cute riff on whack-a-mole featuring crypto KOLs instead of moles; stack multipliers and more rewards by surviving as many rounds as you can.
  • Stomp — A PvP monster battler in the vein of old-school Pokémon games where you collect, evolve, and fight your mons in a bid to be the best trainer onchain. (Demo live)
  • TopStrike — A fantasy fútbol trading game that approaches football matches as live markets, and through which top-scoring players can earn ETH rewards for dominating.
