5 New Onchain Apps for Curious Degens
Bankless Author: William Peaster

Exploring as an onchain adventurer tends to ebb and flow. At times, it can feel like there's not much to do. At other points, there aren't enough hours in the day to try every new thing you'd like to.

Fortunately for us tinkerers, that latter dynamic is reigning now. New projects and resources are coming in hot and fast lately, particularly in crypto's culture scenes.

While there have been too many recent releases to cover everything in one article, I did want to highlight some interesting new stuff that's caught my eye that you can track and explore on your own. Here's what's fresh on my radar.

⬆️ Upside

Website | X

Monetization via content coins is all the rage. The newest oncomer here is Upside, which just kicked off its Season 1 campaign.

The platform, which aims to make it easier to daytrade viral content online, lets you share new links to create instant markets that can be upvoted starting at $0.01 per vote.

As more folks buy, the upvote price increases along a bonding curve, which you can sell your votes into whenever you want. For now, the app's invite-only, so keep your eyes peeled for invite codes!

🎴 RIP.FUN

Website | X

Collect, rip, redeem, repeat—that's the motto of RIP.FUN. It's a new platform centered around the experience of opening digital card packs that can be redeemed for real physical cards, starting with Pokémon cards.

The project just launched its closed beta, so you'll need an invite code to dive into ripping packs and buying/selling. You can scope one out on X or Discord.

That said, Pokémon cards are hotter than ever right now, so it's worth trying to nab early access here in my opinion. Keep it on your radar, at the very least.

💸 Clip

Website | X

Created by chomu.eth and sarvad.base.eth, Clip is an onchain Reddit alternative where users can earn from posting and commenting.

The quality of Reddit's crypto subreddits has, er, really gone downhill in recent years, so it's cool to see a disruption attempt here.

The first channel up on Clip is c/crypto, and it's run by markets—namely tokenized posts and Uniswap liquidity pools—rather than mods. Comment on and trade posts to earn from the underlying trading fees.

The app uses onchain reputation via Farcaster to stymy bots, which is nice, and it's just launched its beta to its first users, so consider checking it out!

📸 RevealCam

Website | X

Many of you will recall Friend.tech, the onchain social network; less will remember that the FT team had previously developed Stealcam, a "steal to reveal" app that let you unveil hidden NFTs by trading them.

I loved the project. So it's awesome that a new crew of builders has revamped this model, albeit now on Base instead of Arbitrum and with coins instead of NFTs, via RevealCam.

Basically, here you can upload media, which gets pixelated, hidden, and tokenized. Buyers can reveal the underlying image by buying 10 million tokens from the market. It's light and fun, worth a try I say.

✨ Cults

Website | X

I love the onchain creativity of the Dot team, and I've been following their recent projects like Completor, Infector, and Panic.fun.

That's why their latest release, Cults, caught my eye. Built on Solana, the platform defies simple explanation, but it's essentially a launchpad that turns memecoins into viral cultcoins with unique mascots.

You can tweet out about a new coin to become a "Cult Leader," or reply to these posts with an initiation phrase to become a "Cult Member," after which an AI bot automatically remixes your PFP with that coin's visual mascot.

At a time when many token launchpads are basically offering the same UX, Cults is doing something different and baking distribution, identity, and liquidity into a single meme-factory. It's definitely one to watch!
