MegaETH's Public Mainnet Coming February 9
MegaETH has set February 9, 2026 as the public mainnet launch date for its high-performance Ethereum L2, following a week-long stress test that aims to process 11B transactions at a sustained 15–35K TPS.
What's the Scoop?
- Stress Test Results: As of writing, the network had reached approximately 10.3B transactions, with its recent TPS being between 10-22K.
- Testing Infrastructure: Frontend load came from apps like Showdown TCG, Stomp GG and Smasher, while backend stress was generated via tools like Kumbaya using ETH transfers and V3-style AMM swaps.
- Funding: MegaETH raised $30M in seed funding from DragonFly Capital, Robot Ventures, and Vitalik Buterin, as well as through an Echo raise, plus an additional $50M through a token sale at a $999M fully diluted valuation.
- Token Status: $MEGA is trading pre-market at around $0.20 with a $2B FDV on Hyperliquid.
Bankless Take:
After testing out the apps live, I’m personally quite excited for mainnet’s launch. The network’s speed has the potential to support applications, particularly games, which have been hindered by the pace of current blockchains thus far. While MegaETH will certainly go live against high expectations for its success, the results of their stress test, combined with the novelty of the applications which will be supported from launch, make me optimistic it can match and exceed what people hope for from the chain.
