Magic Eden to Close Bitcoin and EVM Deployments, Cease Multi-Chain Wallet: Blockspace
Magic Eden is withdrawing to its roots. According to Blockspace, the Solana-native NFT marketplace plans on sunsetting its Bitcoin and EVM deployments next week, and will soon thereafter discontinue support for its multi-chain wallet.
What's the Scoop?
- Multi-Chain Withdrawal: Citing anonymous sources close to the story, Blockspace reports that Magic Eden will announce the closure of its Bitcoin Ordinals and EVM NFT marketplaces as soon as this Friday; the platforms are expected to shut down next week. Subsequently, Magic Eden will reduce its cross-chain wallet functionality in mid-March before fully discontinuing the product in early April. Solana NFTs and assets will remain supported.
- Inspired Pivot: Magic Eden has steadily pivoted away from the NFT label and toward what CEO Jack Lu has branded “crypto entertainment,” a category that includes prediction markets.
