Crypto perpetual exchange Lighter has expanded trading hours for equity perpetual futures, moving from restrictive U.S. regular trading hours to around-the-clock trading on weekdays.

What's the Scoop?

  • New Hours: Starting today, Lighter's equity perpetual futures markets are available 24/5. Onchain traders can ape stocks like Google and Palantir with up to 10x leverage on Lighter at anytime of day, from Monday to Friday.
  • Bigger Ambitions: According to a Discord announcement about the change, Lighter is looking to expand access even further, with uninterrupted 24/7 trading "coming soon."
  • Potential Problems: When equity markets are not trading, their perpetual future derivatives may suffer illiquidity. This can be problematic for accurate asset pricing and may cause "scam wicks," necessitating reduced leverage and increased position management outside of regular trading hours.
  • New Token: The Lighter LIT token was introduced just last week, with 25% of supply allocated toward users who took part in Lighter’s first two points seasons in 2025.
