The Ethereum Foundation has launched a new full-time team called “dAI” to make Ethereum the backbone of artificial intelligence development—both onchain and off. Led by core developer Davide Crapis, the group aims to position Ethereum as the home for AI agents, while laying the groundwork for long-term resistance to corporate AI monopolies.
What’s the Scoop?
- New dAI Team: Ethereum Foundation unveiled a dedicated “dAI” unit focused on aligning Ethereum with the growing AI ecosystem. The name reflects Ethereum’s decentralized and democratic roots.
- Immediate Target – ERC-8004: The team’s first initiative is the rollout of ERC-8004, a proposed standard that allows AI agents to discover and transact with each other across Ethereum. It will be presented at Devconnect in Buenos Aires this November.
- Long-Term Vision: Crapis emphasized that Ethereum must evolve beyond finance and become usable for AI applications. The dAI team’s broader mission is to build a decentralized AI stack that safeguards the future of AI from capture by a handful of tech giants.
