Betting on Creator Coins

Last week, I wrote about the new Zora flywheel. At the heart of this? Creator Coins.
For example, now whenever I post on Zora, the content gets coined and put into a liquidity pool with my profile coin, $peaster. If I consistently post stuff (so more pools) that some people like (thus more buys), my profile's market cap will uptrend.

Creators get half of their creator coin's 1 billion supply (e.g. 500 million $peaster) streamed to them over 5 years, so everyone has an incentive to consistently post cool stuff.
For fans and traders, these profile tokens are compelling:
- They offer an easy way to support your favorite accounts.
- They also offer an easy avenue for speculating on creators' works without having to assess individual pieces.
Whose creator coins to buy, then?
Keep in mind, most of these coins will have very small market caps and thus lots of price volatility. If you buy from creators you like with money you can afford to lose, you'll never be disappointed.
But if you're more the speculator type, you might consider focusing on a mix of 1) large established accounts, and 2) new up-and-coming accounts.
For the former: check the Top Creators page on Zora. This hub keeps tabs on the largest Creator Coins by market cap at any given time.
Right now, the 5 biggest accounts are FakeTaxi (the 1st adult IP coin?), Visualize Value (via Jack Butcher), Jacob (Zora's co-founder), zxbt (an autonomous onchain AI artist), and Balaji (the entrepreneur and investor).

For finding new up-and-coming accounts, you can try surfing Zora's New Creators and New Posts pages or searching for phrases like "activated creator coin" on platforms like X.
If you're more keen on making broad bets, you could also consider Creator Coin indexes. For instance:
- The Zora Creators Index on Indexy offers a basket of +20 tokenized creators, all currently within the $30k to $1M market cap range.
- There's also now a Zora Top 10 Creators Coins index on Glider that tracks the 10 biggest profiles by market cap. Glider is invite-only currently, but you can join the waitlist on glider.fi.
- Slayed is working on a Zora creators index fund, too, so keep an eye out for this effort and others like it.
Bottom line: The Creator Coin scene will grow taller and wider in the months ahead. Participating in it now will help foster a new kind of onchain creator economy while also offering you upside in profiles that post interesting content. It's worth exploring, particularly while the scene is still new.
